The Great Fiction Bake-Off: A Love Story

The Great Fiction Bake-Off: A Love Story

Summer is nearly over here in Colorado, and we've soaked up every drop at our house. Between family time and traveling for most of the last month, we've done and seen a lot. But it's nice to be home, and I'm looking forward to fall and getting back into a scheduled routine.

Because we were gone for so long, I'm still working on wrapping up my fictional take on the Great British Baking Show/Bake-Off. I am obsessed with this show, and watching it makes me believe that I might one day become a star baker too - even with the altitude and my underdeveloped skills working against me. But writing a rom-com series about a bunch of great bakers who find love on the set of their reality TV competition? That I can do! And I'm having so much fun while I do it. Here's another sneak peek for you. it's a scene that has my main character Lauryn and her partner at the time (who is not her love interest in the book!) scrambling not to lose midway through the show:

I mentioned last time that I am loving all the recipes I get to learn about while researching dishes for the book. This Pink Champagne cake is so pretty and delicate that I wanted to share it with you. Sophia of Partylicious features lots of festive recipes on her site, so be sure to check it out!

One last note: I'm working through a list of favorite old movies with my daughter this summer. We just watched An Affair to Remember with Deborah Kerr and our favorite dreamboat, Cary Grant. They drink pink champagne in the movie. Why does the idea that it's pink add so much to the romance?

Sending you lots of warm thoughts!
